Senegalese fashion brand Mwami aims to bring together both urban and traditional cultures in its go-everywhere designs. At the helm is fine artist Papi, whose practice slaloms between classical painting and digital art, the latter offering him endless possibilities. Mwami, which launched in 2015, serves as another branch of his creative adventure through which he hopes to evoke a meaningful dialogue. “Our mission is to dress people in a way that they feel is theirs, allowing them to take ownership of the things they consume. Mwami is a way to bring more intention into consumerism,” Papi says.
